Major Blow to Akali Dal, Lambardar Inderjit Singh Shergill joins Congress in the presence of PPCC President

Jalandhar, April 24, 2023: Addressing a massive public meetings in Khurla Kingra village in Jalandhar Cantt ahead of the Jalandhar bypoll, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said the disastrous ‘Badlaav’ ruined the state. Adding that the Aam Aadmi Party only burdened the state exchequer for its personal gains. Warring appealed to the voters of the area to extend their full support in favour of party candidate Prof. Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.

While campaigning in favour of Prof Chaudhary, PPCC president attacked the ruling AAP and said that AAP had promised to quell ‘mafia raj’ but be it the Sand Mafia or the Gangsters, however, the ‘Mafia’ is ruling the roost in Punjab at double pace. The only constant in life is a change! The Vidhan Sabha elections witnessed a historic public mandate. The people of Punjab ousted the Congress party because they were misled by the illusion created by the Aam Aadmi Party in the name of ‘Badlaav’. It registered victory on 92 seats in the state, but it only deceived and disappointed the voters in the last about 14 months of its rule.

Voters have great expectations from a political party when it forms the government either in the state or in the country. The AAP failed in fulfilling its poll promises, hence, the voters shattered the illusion of false promises and fake guarantees given by AAP. Losing the Sangrur by-election, Bhagwant Mann’s home district, was an eye opener for the Apni Advertisement Party.

Warring slammed the AAP for failing to fulfil its poll promises and deceiving Punjabis. Taking a jibe at Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, he added that the incompetent duo failed to find even one volunteer to contest the bypoll and were so helpless that it gave ticket to the leader of other party. “AAP formed Government in the state by making tall promises, but on ground, nothing changed! In fact, under the patronage of AAP leaders sand and liquor mafia are dominating the state. Tainted leaders of the AAP are at the helm of affairs, the only reason, why the mafia raj in Punjab is much stronger today,” claimed the state president.

Calling the Aam Aadmi Party ‘Poachers’, Warring said that despite a historic mandate in the Vidhan Sabha elections the AAP leaders kept begging and influencing leaders of rival parties to join them. The AAP has stooped so low that it bribed the leaders of other political parties with tickets to contest elections.

“People voted for the AAP because of their promises to resolve the issues, address public grievances, and several guarantees & promises. They are accountable for every lie! They must answer each and every voters about where have all the guarantees & promises gone? Where are the monthly Rs 1000 that they promised to every women of the state? Youth are still dying because of drug overdose, farmers are still committing suicide, the perpetrators of the sacrilege case are still roaming free, youth are still awaiting jobs, the law & order situation drastically deteriorated and above all this the state exchequer is only being burdened for pushing the Agenda of AAP IN General & Kejriwal in particular” said Warring.

In a major blow to Akali Dal ahead of the by-election, Lambardar Inderjit Singh Shergil from Jalandhar Cantt assembly constituency severed its ties with the party and joined the Congress along with his supporters in the presence of state president and senior Congress leadership.

While warmly welcoming Shergil to the party fold, the state President said that inspired by the pro-people policies of the Congress party, people are ending their association with other political parties and joining the Congress party. He said Shergil’s joining will strengthen the party fold. They know that Congress is the only party which believes in working for the progress, prosperity and development of the country besides the well-being of the people of the country.

Speaking at the occasion he further added that MP, late Santokh Singh Choudhary worked for the progress of Jalandhar and it was only because of the work he accomplished that the constituency secured the seat during the so-called modi-wave or the ‘Badlaav’!
